The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business is an Applied General qualification. The qualification aims to provide a wide-ranging study of the business sector. It is designed for learners studying full time who wish to pursue a career in business, primarily via higher education to access graduate entry employment with businesses, or through higher and degree level apprenticeships.
The National Extended Diploma is a two-year, full-time course and will provide the following UCAS points:
P – 48, M – 96, D – 144, D* – 168
Most universities will accept the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma for entry onto degree courses without any additional Level 3 qualifications as long as the required grade is achieved.
What will I do?
This qualification gives learners experience of the breadth and depth of the business sector that will prepare them for further study or training. It includes the opportunity for learners to choose several topics from a selection of options reflecting the progression pathways in business. The learning programme covers the following content areas:
- Business environments
- Finance
- Marketing
- International business
- Management
The optional units have been designed to support progression to business courses in higher education, and to link with relevant occupational areas. They cover content areas such as:
- Human resources
- Accounting
- Financial services
- Marketing
- Law
- Retail
Entry Qualifications
Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, where possible, including English Language and Maths (although this will not prevent entry to the programme where learners demonstrate appropriate behaviours and attitudes towards their ongoing English and Maths development)
Or
a relevant Level 2 qualification, such as a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business, plus an ability to operate at Level 2 in either English or Maths.
