The Pilgrims were 1-0 victors over Northern Premier League promotion hopefuls Gainsborough Trinity at the Northolme courtesy of Mooney's fine 25-yard strike in the 11th minute.

United enjoyed the best of the first half but Trinity, featuring ex-Pilgrims Ashley Jackson, Fraser Preston and Dayle Southwell, ended the game strongly as substitutions began to take hold on both sides.
