The 29-year-old has spent the entirety of his career with Crewe Alexandra, Shrewsbury Town and the Magpies – in addition to a short loan spell with Chesterfield last season.
His arrival follows hot-on-the-heels of goalkeeper Ross Fitzsimons, who switched from Notts County at the weekend.
'I am absolutely delighted to sign Matt," reflected United manager Craig Elliott.
"He is somebody I have been working on trying to sign since the New Year. His passion to sign for Boston United shone through the moment I met him.
"He brings a wealth of experience and quality and I feel we are very lucky to sign a player of this calibre. I am very much looking forward to working with him."
