The 26-year-old, who is eligible to make his United debut at AFC Fylde on Saturday, has linked up with the Pilgrims after leaving Notts County at the end of last season.

Rose has trained with the Pilgrims extensively over recent weeks and is now in contention to make his first appearance for Craig Elliott's side.

Reflecting on Rose's arrival, Elliott said: "Mitch has been training with us for around six weeks now. It was initially just to get fit but obviously he enjoyed the sessions and knows a lot of the lads.

"He mentioned how impressed he was by the standard of the team and even visited the new stadium, so signing for us began to become an option.

"He wanted to get some game time so it was an absolute no-brainer to bring him in as he is without doubt a quality player."

Rose will wear the number 19 shirt vacated recently by Jordan Archer.
