Preview - Scunthorpe United

Craig Singleton30 Oct 2023 - 22:04

Scunthorpe United are Tuesday evening's visitors to the Jakemans Community Stadium – in a re-arranged National League North encounter.

Jimmy Dean's side were scheduled to visit Pilgrim Way on October 14, but that match was postponed due to the Pilgrims' ongoing Emirates FA Cup commitments.

Tuesday night (kick-off 7.45pm) will see the sides going head-to-head in league action for the first time since 2004-2005. The Pilgrims won two and drew one of their three home Football League fixtures against The Iron.

With Tom Leak and Tom Edge back on the bench at the weekend, Ian Culverhouse is nearing a full-strength squad to choose from – and Ethan Sephton is expected to be fit despite limping off during Saturday's 1-0 win over Gloucester City.

Scunthorpe have won their last two home matches against Spennymoor Town and Bishop's Stortford, scoring a dozen goals in the process, but have not won away since back-to-back successes at Tamworth and Rushall Olympic in August.

Ex-Pilgrims Ross Fitzsimons, Michael Clunan and Danny Elliott could all line-up for The Iron on Tuesday evening.
