The 24-year-old made 13 appearances for the Pilgrims during the closing weeks of the 2021-2022 campaign – but sustained a serious ACL injury in United's final home game of the season against Gloucester City.

Nicholson subsequently missed the final day clincher at Farsley Celtic – and the play-off fixtures at Kidderminster Harriers, AFC Fylde and York City – and underwent successful surgery during the summer of 2022.

He is now fit-again and available to report for pre-season training when the Pilgrims reconvene at the beginning of July.
