The 22-year-old, who scored 20 goals for the Pilgrims as the club won promotion from National League North in May, will link up with the northwest outfit, subject to final compensation being agreed.

Knowles arrived at the Jakemans Community Stadium in the summer of 2023 and was a mainstay of the Pilgrims' side which memorably reached – and won – the play-offs.

He will join forces with fellow former Pilgrim Kelsey Mooney, who completed his own move to the Wham Stadium earlier in the summer.

The club would like to acknowledge the player's contribution to their play-off success – and wish him well for the next stage of his career in the EFL.
