Norris played under United boss Craig Elliott at Shaw Lane last season and went on to finish the campaign with 49 appearances to his credit.
It completes a spectacular homecoming for the 37-year-old who launched his career in style with the Pilgrims in 1999-2000 — securing a move to Bolton Wanderers in the process.
He subsequently enjoyed a seven goals in six matches loan return to York Street the following season to take his overall United tally to 18 goals in 37 appearances.
Norris has since represented the likes of Plymouth Argyle, Ipswich Town, Portsmouth and Leeds United and played against the Pilgrims for the first time in March 2017 for Salford City — being re-united with former secretary John Blackwell (pictured) who had completed the paperwork years earlier for his dream move to the Reebok Stadium.
